Good deal. I'd vote for him. He's done awesome things for the city of Tuscaloosa, and just released a 4-year plan to revitalize Tuscaloosa's most poverty stricken area.
Sadly, I fear people won't vote for him because he'll run as a Democrat. Just once, I would like for people to vote for someone who wishes to serve the people, and not the parties.

It isn't just the parties. It's the people he'll have to bow to as a Democrat.
Nancy Worley and Joe Reed run the Democratic party in Alabama. If you want to be a candidate, you have to answer to them - but if you answer to them then you aren't winning a statewide election.
I suspect he'll withdraw without ever formally entering the race.
The Republican party was teetering on the verge of being in a very similar situation with Mike Hubbard, but his felony convictions took care of that issue.
