If excluded....Alabama has 427 wins since 1972. Which is good enough for #2 behind Nebraska.

Why would they be included? Don't get caught cheating (same reason we only have 8 SEC titles instead of 11).

Because ncaa sanctions are so damn arbitrary. Some suit in an office decided that Alabama should forfeit games because Antonio Langham signed a napkin for an agent in the celebratory aftermath of the national title game vs Miami, and might have taken $400 the next day. Around the same time Auburn's coaches paid players and it was deemed there was lack of institutional control, and they lost a couple of tv games for a year during a time when each school might have 2 or 3 tv games per year.
