That's completely different, but ok. Taking the statues down was retarded anyway, it was part of the history of our state. Too many hypersensitive, politically correct pussies around nowadays. Sickening. We will always be the lsu tigers though, that will not change. If you want to take it that far then hell, texas ams mascot is offensive to farmers everywhere lol. Not to mention yalls bitch is offensive to all collies, just think how lassie would feel.

Is it though? Both brought to light the troubling past surrounding their cities

Yeah it really is. Why did it all of a sudden become a problem? They've been there for a very long time. It's not like people were idolizing the statues. They were just strictly historical. Pretty dumb if you ask me.

This program is back from in the day when the school would pick a cover and print there info on it and in it.
So you will see the same cover from other colleges.
I talked with an assistant sport information guy at LSU from the 1950's about these old program covers.
So most of the covers designs are on the generic line, so they can be used nation wide.

quote:but they were all upset to see them go? Wow. Do you think people will be upset when LSU finally does the right, socially responsible thing and changes the mascot?

I'm just trying to have a conversation about these very serious issues

Bring it to the political board.

No idea who the Knight is supposed to be as neither Rutgers (Scarlet Knights) nor UCF (Golden Knights) had football teams back then
Not sure if they were the Scarlet Knights back then, but Rutgers most definitely had a football team back then.
Rutgers is considered the birthplace of college football by 1950, they had been playing football for 80+ years.

I was referring to another picture in this thread. I'm pretty sure I know the Big 8 mascots! Lol
