Is ERA calculated for the entire year too?

Honestly, I think they probably used conference ERA as a large factor. Which explains the love for the big guy.

Sort of. Lot of unearned runs.

And if we're being honest, a lot of the actual earned runs were kept alive by errors putting base runners on behind them.

Here is another thing that is true: Hjelle did not pitch well last night. But he got no help whatsoever from his defense.

This is, by the way, lest y'all get sensitive, not to take anything away from the show the Tigers put on last night. Y'all look great right now.

Except not. 10 runs given up, 9 earned

He went from giving up 31 earned runs on the season to 40.

Not sure why you're trying to take up for him last night, he was a step above awful. And I only give him that for the swings and misses, which weren't as plentiful as the hits given up (11 in just 5.0 IP). You can argue the 2nd inning helped get away from him due to poor fielding, but that's only accounting for half his runs given up.

I said he didn't pitch well last night... I'm not sure where I've taken up for him specifically relating to last night.

Cats just didn't show up and the Tigers murdered them for it.

LSU looks like a different team right now than they did a month ago.

One? Actually, one is not a lot. It's just a little. It's 10% of all the runs he gave up.
