What would be the definition of conservative speaker?
If you're talking about someone speaking about smaller government, guns laws, etc. who cares
But if they mean conservative is anti race mixing, gas all the Jewish people and let's incite a race war. then that probably is not appropriate and I think. A college should. Be able to tell those people to go frick themselves

Used that term because that is what I believe the article used. Nothing more. Nothing less. I'll let the rest of you debate whether the term conservative has become a code word or cover for racism. Not addressing that at all.
Only point was that restricting the opposing views freedom of speech in response to those views could be problematic.

very true. I have heard people that idolize adolf hitler celebrate killing millions of jews call themselves the "real" conservatives.
it's time for common sense conservatives to stop allowing these fringe lunatics to define the word.

Firstly, anyone espousing those views would not be invited to speak. Secondly, unpopular speech and speech that falls outside the Overton Window is the most in need of protection. I fundamentally disagree with anyone who believes free speech should have any qualifiers and that censorship is ever justified.
Honestly, I don't respect the opinion of people who say "I support free speech but not for X." If you're in favor of censorship, at least own your position. Don't do some Orwellian "all speech is free but some speech is freer than others" nonsense.
