A good announcer is willing to call out his own team/coaches if they put a crappy product on the field as well as praise them when they excel. Fyffe/Munson were the best.

Yep. It's what copy cats get wrong today. They get all the "we"/"us" stuff, but when things go bad they want to blame it on refs or get defensive.

Munson had no problem telling the folks at home that the Dawgs were sleepwalking or playing like crap. It made him as mad as it made the guy in the upper deck seats, and he wasn't about to let them off the hook by blaming a ref.

Skip Carey was the same way with the Braves. Steve Holman is about the only one still kickin' today who does it that way (Hawks basketball radio play-by-play).
