What does the Rant think Clemson's success will do to South Carolina's program, and how long does the Rant think it will take for South Carolina to be on top of that rivalry again?

We've been surrounded by successful programs before and compete in the SEC. That's nothing new.

We have to focus more on ourselves than what Clemson is doing. Although Spurrier left the talent-cupboard empty, the same cannot be said for the facilities and the funds raised during his tenure.

We just opened up a premier indoor practice facility for example, the entire area around the stadium has been completely redone, and a number of years ago we opened up a premier academic facility for the athletes, to name a few.

Fierce competition by our rivals is the same as it's always been, the facilities are not, it's all up to Muschamp's recruiting and coaching ability now.

South Carolina will be fine. They had a great coach... who retired a couple of years before he actually bothered to step down from the job.

Based on where the programs are right now I expect Arkansas to beat them this year but Bert has laid quite a few eggs in his time here.

Other then that I expect them to have a solid, if not awe inspiring, team this year. I am not sold on Moosechimp as a head coach but in this spot he's gold. He gives the fire and drive USC needs to regain their mojo.

7-8 wins and a decent bowl game, hopefully in their backyard, for the Gamecocks this year. A nice step forward, or perhaps I should say back to the past, for the program. Next year I think they put in a serious run at the East title and a top 20 finish.
