Do you have a guidebook or website we could check to see what titles you deem worthy?

You didn't answer my other two questions.

Should Michigan State and Texas not claim their UPI titles where they lost the bowl game?

What about teams claiming titles when they didn't play in a bowl game?

Just trying to get a guide to your common sense

Savage, you sure you aren't an Aggie or Misery Tiger? You are a buffoon with your so called logic.

I agree with some of the skewed Bama logic on their national championship claims but that's the norm with a lot of people. But....

1973 is an undisputed national championship for Alabama. Why? The UPI, which holds the same weight and legitimacy as the AP. I don't care if they lost the Sugar Bowl. That's the way the UPI still operated, unlike the AP when they chose after the season. Obviously Alabama cared about the game since it was so close. Alabama wanted the outright national title. Notre Dame won in the end and got the AP.

1950 Oklahoma
1951 Tennessee
1953 Maryland
1960 Minnesota
1964 Alabama
1965 Michigan State
1970 Texas

Those above fall in same category. National Champions before bowl loss.

As far as pre-poll national championships, I don't recognize them, and many don't either because they were awarded retroactive or they were awarded by sources that never held much weight like the AP when established.

Alabama retroactively claims pre-AP poll titles as of 1986. They mention the Rose Bowl being a factor in deciding the national title then. Although unofficial because of not a solidified selector, I can see why some would claim them. The school claims them though. Hence, Alabama in 1986 went back and recognized those teams as national champions based on what sources named them. Having tied or winning the Rose Bowl was an extra incentive in doing so.
