Experience of Bama Defense

Question for Bama fans. What positions do you have of concern for lack of experience on the defensive side? Seems that you guys are losing a lot to the NFL/Seniors this year. Not that it matters all that much being that you recruit at such a high level, but which positions do you expect to have the most growing pains in?

We seem to have little experience on the DL and to some extent LB. We have talent but little starting experience. I think our Secondary will/should be as good as Saban has had since he has been here due to starters and depth.

when has that ever been a problem for them

There's not much "starting experience" but there is a lot of experience among the guys expected to start up front. Frazier, Hand, and Payne have played a lot of meaningful football and Davis got in a good bit last year. I think that's the main factor in allowing Alabama to play at a high level each year defensively; they ease the young guys into action and when it's their turn they've already seen a lot of meaningful snaps but weren't thrown into the fire too early
I expect a drop off in the pass rush, we'll have to see how that impacts the rest of the defense. They'll still be able to make teams one dimensional because they'll rotate 4-5 giant humans on the defensive line

In the front 7, the only returning starters are Shaun Dion-Hamilton and Daron Payne. Deshawn Hand and Rashaun Evans have played enough football to step in seemlessly. The rest will be guys seeing a big increase in playing time.
In the secondary we lose Eddie Jackson and Marlon Humphrey. Considering we played without Eddie to end last season and we have 3 great corners with experience returning, no one is worried about that.

Never said it ever was a problem. Just asking a question

Yep, ya'll play them late to so it shouldn't matter near as much.

Don't
Evans, Payne, Hand are all great pass rushers

Will Minkah be the leader in the secondary this year? It seemed that Eddie was a big hit to the secondary last year as far as understanding assignments. At least that was my perception.

There is talent on D. Young ,mixed experienced. If you are going to score many points against them do it early. Three or four games under their belt and they will be good.
Too much talent not to be.

To be fair while they are great players and have potential its going to be hard to replace Williams, Anderson others. Those guys were disruptive.

I honestly expect that we will again have the best defense in the SEC. We have the talent and coaching and the system is proven and rooted in. Of course it is gonna be tough to replace the pass rush and logic dictates that it will take a step back but it will be elite. Replace 5 stars with other 5 stars. Has worked out now for a decade.

I expect Evans to be as good or better than Williams. Who's going to replace Anderson I don't know..

If he's at safety than I would say yes, but they might move him back to corner

Combined Experience:
As a team in 2015 we were #124 out of 128 teams in combined experience. 13th in the SEC. Won national title, won SEC for 2nd straight year.
In 2016 we were #116 out of 128, 14th in the SEC. Won SEC for 3rd year in a row, finished #2 in the country.
