Gus getting the production that he did from his offense despite Sean White being a square peg in a round hole was pretty impressive. They were rolling for most of the season. UGA stood on their heads, and Alabama and Oklahoma were two of the best teams in the nation.

Pettway being out is what really killed us vs UGA last season.

Dude had 120+ yards in 5 out of 6 games he played in leading up to the game. That injury hurt tremendously.

White was banged up as well during the uga game.

To the OP, I think part of it too is many people/programs don't develop QBs well, or rather it is super hard to do. Kiffin did great with Sims, Coker, and this year with Hurts, but you also had several high profile guys that didn't develop enough to play or just weren't fits.

To me, what Gus has sucked at is just finding the QBs for what he wanted to do on O. His first year he got Marshall and Johnson (was a nice recruit despite the results). The next year we got White, who is a dropback guy or an air raid type. Next year Tyler queen, and the next year John Franklin and Woody Barrett. Had we landed D Watson or offered Lamar Jackson I doubt we would be as worried about "development."

The last two years have been better with Barrett, JF3, Stidham and Willis, but those two years in the wilderness hurt him. White is good btw, but Gus clearly doesn't want him to be the guy
