And in 2018 make a serious run at the SEC title.

Dude we won't have close to the amount of depth or talent to compete for any kind of title for at least 5-10 years.

You say that, but we only have 14 seniors on scholarship and only about 8 of those are in the 2 deep.

Even with limited scholarships, if the Rebels do well this year and the NCAA closes this case, recruiting could pick back up just that quick.

Where we will be hurting is after 2018, IF 2018 goes as well as it could, you would see a huge exodus of players to the NFL.

Patterson
AJ Brown
DK Metcalf
Jefferson
Little
Benito Jones

Worse case scenario, is we end up with a two year bowl ban, which will kill recruiting for another year. Plus some players could decide to leave. None did this year, but there may be a few that would seek opportunities elsewhere if it were for 2 years.

2018 will be the best chance to compete for the SEC title
after that it will be another rebuilding start up, like before.

So, if you don't think Ole Miss can contend in 2018, why would any coach come here? Because after that recruiting class is gone, now the talent does drop off. I think the scholarship reduction ends after 2019. So you don't get a full recruiting class until 2020 and by then you have pretty much either found out you can or can't recruit at Ole Miss. It's way too risky for anyone to take on.

There are 27 Sophomores on scholarship right now, red shirting helped to get to that point. If they all stuck around for the 2019 You could see them being competitive enough. But the depth would be horrible unless 2017 and 2018 are great seasons and the recruiting picks up.

I see CHF to be able to ride out a 2 year bowl ban. Another coach coming in would struggle in recruiting start up, so he would lose another year or 2.

Who could come in with a two year bowl ban and crack the top 50 in recruiting his first 2 years?

I believe CHF could do that. I don't see anyone else doing a better job of rebuilding at Ole Miss.

So why get rid of him. He won with very little talent from day one. He would do it again.
