Frank McGuire found success at UNC in the same manner as he did at South Carolina: he recruited tough players from NYC who were good ball handlers and played suffocating defense. And while Rosenbluth played at Staunton, he was a New Yorker. It made sense for McGuire to bring NYC kids to Chapel Hill, as you could not recruit blacks at the time.
