In 1971 USCe turned tail and ran away from the ACC after years of being dominated by Carolina in all sports I have never seen another Gamecock who is not willing to fight or probably never will see one again Now 46 years later we are on the eve of USCe turning tail and running from Carolina again I know if y'all find a way to beat Gonzaga then the championship is ours because history always repeats itself

Has to be an alter, because nobody could be this stupid. Have you ever heard of Lennie Rosenbluth? The first really nationwide mega star in the ACC. Old Number 10, you dumbass.

I was there, sort of, and yes I am old. The 1957 Heels actually got me interested in basketball. They even had a mini-network (actually ACC, but we really know what that means), Charlotte, Raleigh and one or two more that I forget, think Greensboro had Channel 2.) Out of that season grew the multi million ACC Network. And without Lennie it would not have happened for years.

One more thing, why won't the Heels play us every year to open the football season in Charlotte. 50-50 split. We had something good and y'all cut and run.

He coached South Carolina for 16 years. Knew him personally and was invited to the big to-do celebrating his 500 wins. Until Martin--he was the best South Carolina ever had.

I think his question was more in-depth than that:

Frank McGuire was head coach at UNC before moving over to the REAL Carolina (with a brief NBA stint in-between). McGuire was a successful basketball coach out of NY and led St. John's to the Final Four.

He took over UNC and guess what?? - he started recruiting yankee new yorkers to play for him in Chapel Hill. Won UNC's first ever national championship in 56-57 going 32-0, with a roster full of NYC kids.

UNC didn't give a shite whether or not kids from up north entered into their conference.....as long as the good ones went to UNC, and the bad ones went everywhere else. McGuire did the same thing at USC and started beating UNC with those kids, and UNC pitched a fit. They ran the ACC along with the other NC schools in the conference, and expected to be the conference flagship institution.

Also USC beat UNC in CFB the final 4 years they were ACC members, and then beat them a 5th time in 1974 as an independent the next time both schools played on the gridiron. Out from the clutches of the ACC and tobacco road USC is now 12-5 versus UNC in FB going back to the ACC years in the late 1960s.

USC didn't run away from UNC.....it was more the case of UNC picking up their balls and going home, once USC started whipping that tarhole arse.....

I was stationed in Philly the same time McGuire was. Let's really go into depth and admit that McGuire supported the move--at least he did not oppose it. And it was mainly over one player: Mike Grosso.

Wasn't there a rumor of a pact between South Carolina and Clemson to leave the ACC during that time?

That is embarrassing. No wonder you lost your accreditation.

Still the worst student at UNC would be in the top half at USCe

I highly doubt you're smarter than half of the current usce students, and I've met college kids, they're retarded.
