This is the correct answer. Downtown has some good barbecue at three or four locations now though. All off shoots of single joints that became successful and opened locations downtown and charge more for the same product that in one case is only ten minutes away.
ETA: vinegar based is the bomb imho. Also, if the sauce is on the meat when you order...leave immediately and tell them why.


I hate that nasty-arse Jim and Nicks has a location on King, and tourists flock to it thinking that garbage is what SC BBQ is.

Anyone been to the new Lewis BBQ in Charleston yet? It's motherfricking delicious but expensive as hell. I spent $45 on lunch. 2 slices of brisket, 2 slices of smoked turkey, 2 ribs, a sausage link, and a side of corn pudding. I had a little left over to take home, but shite I was shocked when they rang me up at the register.

We have one in Lancaster County--well Indian Land. Glad you shared your opinion on this one.
