Hurts was most definitely responsible. The defense was on the field way too long. When you have a bunch of 1st round WRs and a Heisman type QB tossing the ball to them, you're gonna have a tired defense. Especially when the offense goes 3 and out every single drive.

hurts was the same qb he was all year. moreover, Bama wasn't running hte ball very well and obviusly running the ball is their forte.
the defense being tired shows last of depth, saban wasn't rotating many guys in.
