Great theory.
Explain to me how that elects majority of R governors, senators, and other statewide officeholders all across America.
Here's a hint. It ain't gerrymandering.
Here's another hint. To be able to control re districting you have to Already be the party in power - which wasn't the case for R at the state level as recently as 10 years ago. Even Alabama had a majority D legislature as recently as 2010.
what's happening is an increasing polarization of America between a few very dense urban areas and the rest of the nation. Look at the county map of the most recent presidential election where Trump won something like 2,700 counties and HRC won less than 500.
Even though I almost always vote R, I wish the as were was a simple political trick. Those will self resolve. The two virtually opposite views for our country isn't nearly as easy to heal.
