Don't get me wrong, I love Avery, but Gregg Marshall has been to the tournament 6 straight years at Wichita State, and gotten them to the final 4. I'm happy with Avery and what he's building, but Marshall will likely be a homerun hire wherever he goes. His wife can do whatever she wants, as long as he's successful.

And yet, Avery beat him in year one of a rebuilding job.

I think Marshall is a good coach, but I don't think he'd do any better at Bama than Avery is doing. Those mid-major conferences mask a lot of flaws for good coaches. They make good coaches sometimes look like great coaches. Then they move up to a bigger school and flounder in mediocrity the majority of the time.
