Distracting his team from what? It's the off-season, genius. There was nothing wrong with what he did. He tested the waters, found out what he needed to improve on, and returned to school. You're being ridiculous...

A typo doesn't change anything.
Maybe one day the university will be lucky enough to have coachcrisp leading our basketball program. You're clearly in the know of how to lead and teach young men how to be the best basketball players they can be.

He's right. At the major college level, any sport is a 24/7/365 job. You don't take time off and there is no off season. If you do, you will suck in relation to your peers. See if Cal's kids are screwing off because it's summertime. Most of them don't even get to go home for summer break but stay to get class work and work outs done. If you think otherwise, you're ignorant about major college athletics.

Well our football players take breaks and they are pretty good. I get what you guys are saying but I think in this situation it may help him and the team if his goal is to go to the NBA.

None of our players are on campus right now. All college athletes get breaks.

Sure, they get breaks. But it's a matter of a couple of weeks or so in their off season and a few days here or there scattered about the year. They don't leave it for 2 or 3 months at a time.

Players aren't even on campus. He's probably practiced more than any of the other players. Get back to me when you know what you're talking about.

I'm 99% sure he's staying, but I was expecting to hear something from the team yesterday. They'll probably tell us as late as possible.

Charlie Potter said he asked Bama and they said they'll give an official announcement but he didn't expect them to yesterday. That leaves the door open for today I guess.

Saw a tweet that we were showing interest to 2018 point guard Zach Scott. He's ranked pretty low right now. 247 Zach Scott

Here's what was told to me. Key let coach know weeks ago (same night as Ingram Instagram post) that he'd be back. That doesn't mean much if he doesn't complete paperwork.
Pretty sure the scouts are telling Key the same things coach is. Hopefully it helps hearing it from another source.

quote:No. We've got an excellent coach right now, so I'm not needed. What we do need though is a team of guys that are all about winning and not as much about themselves.

The "team" can't practice together. I guess Key should have just gone home like the rest of the players?

Almost all players get the interim session off in May then take classes in summer 1 and summer 2.

While I don't have any problem with Key testing the waters, this is a weak argument. Nobody's perfect. I think Saban is the greatest coach of all time, and I'm not qualified to be a position coach at any level. That doesn't mean I can't be critical of some things Saban does.
