Thoughts on the future of LSU with Coach O and his staff?

Specifically, what changes do you think we will see in how LSU plays, their performance and their overall program as Coach O continues to make it his own and drift away from Les Miles' era and ideas?

I think that LSU will continue signing great athletes, will be very good on defense and at the very least be solid on offense. O hired a staff full of both very good recruiters and good teachers, highly respected guys. I think that he has a chance to be more like Dabo Swinney than some other guys who have crashed and burned when given the reigns. I for sure think he has learned from his training experiment at Ole Miss.

What I don't know is if he will be a good CEO and program manager. I think time will only tell with that. However, strictly with the football, I think that with Canada and Aranda that LSU will be a very solid, well coached teams in the years to come.

I really don't see a crash and burn there, at all. But I've been wrong before.

I think he's going to be successful. He recruits his arse off and the players love him. If he lets Aranda and Canada do their jobs then they will be very good. O is the perfect guy for LSU.

The refs are going to get real sick of Coach O yaw yawing at them since he doesn't coach offense or defense.

Nice topic.

I think O will let Canada open up the offense more, and not just more downfield passing. Ensminger is still on staff, and he was the OC during Coach O's run last year.
Though he averaged over 40 points and 600 yards against every opponent not named Bama or Florida, Ensminger seemingly disappointed against those two.

I hope they utitilize the four 6'4" or taller receivers we have as well as the TE.

Aranda is a gold mine. I think we just reload with him.

Coach O is a great recruiter and motivator; and although he's considered a players' coach, I think he will instill discipline where needed.
I think he's surrounded himself with a potentially very good staff, it's up to him to be the 'CEO' so to speak.
Canada is really a breath of fresh air. O let Ensminger run the offense last year, he should do the same with Canada.

In 'OCanadAranda' we have a pretty promising triumvirate; not to mention Williams and Thomas from USC and Mickey Joseph.

People forget Coach Orgeron has 30+ years of experience, a Master's, and has been a head coach before. Even he has said he's learned from his past mistakes and emphasized his positives.

Time will tell.

Outside of MAYBE Jimbo Fisher while still being realistic, there was no better choice for LSU than Ed Orgeron. It's clear that he is letting his staff do their jobs, Canada in particular. This is the first time in 10+ years where we know for sure that the offense will be different, much different. Whether that translates to more productivity, we shall see.

Solid analysis, OP.

I think it's pretty clear he has learned enough from last mistakes that he isn't going to crash and burn. He will maintain a stacked roster and has shown the ability to keep and attract elite assistants.

I absolutely hated the hire when it was made but he has done everything right so far.

I think LSU will be strong on both sides of the ball with Aranda and Canada coaching. I worry about what happens when either one leaves for a HC gig and we have to make another great hire. Eventually, we will miss on a coordinator hire and the wheels will fall off.

It will be highly dependent on the hire of Matt Canada, IMO

Coach O's philosophy isn't this unknown "Trojan horse". Anyone who moderately follows college football should have a pretty good idea of what's going on in Baton Rouge.

He's a great recruiter and an average at best head coach. He's going to try and bring in the best coaches and talent possible. Coach O is only as good as his coordinators and roster are.

I think we'll be just fine as long as Aranda is at LSU. I expect Canada to be at least pretty good. History shows that a great LSU defense and a shitty, predictable offense is good enough to have them at least in the mix. An elite defense coupled with at least a pretty good offense is exciting to say the least.

Once our coordinators part ways...well...that's a whole different story. At least I have faith that the roster should be loaded.

Whether you like him or not, there was a definite change in their demeanor after Miles was fired. They looked motivated and the offense was the best its been in a few years.

Honestly, I don't know what to think. Has Orgeron truly learned from his past mistakes? I don't know. Is Canada really as good as advertised? I don't know.

The only thing that seems apparent is that Aranda is very, very good.
