I know his hiring is old news by now, but after an 11-1 start I've got to thinking...did Mizzou snag a rising star here?

Yes it's "early" in his coaching career, but his track record as a head coach thus far consists of:

Vianney High School
2004: 22-7 MSHSAA State Champions
2005: 19-5 Conference Champions
2006: 24-3 MSHSAA State Champions
2007: 15-9 District Champions
2008: 17-11 Conference Champions
2009: 21-8 Conference Champions
2010: 20-9

Overall: 137-51, 4 conference championships, 3 district championships, 2 sectional championships, 2 final four appearances, 2 state championships

Southeast Missouri State

2013: 26-33 (13-17)
2014: 37-20 (23-7) Ohio Valley Conference Champions (Reg. Season)
2015: 36-23 (20-7) Ohio Valley Conference Champions (Reg. Season)
2016: 39-21 (22-8) Ohio Valley Conference Champions (Reg. Season & Tournament), NCAA Regional Appearance

Overall: 138-97 (78-39), 3 Conference Titles, 1 Conference Tournament Title, 1 NCAA Regional Appearance

Mizzou
2017: 17-1

This is probably something to consider with the basketball hire. The flashy hire isn't always the right hire.

I'm impressed so far. I admit I wanted Vitello, not that I was upset with the Bieser hire, but it seems to be a good hire so far.

Having said that, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I've seen Mizzou get off to good starts (not quite this good) and then flounder once the competition level picks up. Let's see how they hold up over the long haul. They still need to find a legit Sunday starter.

Tomorrow will be a good test. Western Carolina beat a ranked Coastal Carolina who is legit year in and year out. They beat a ranked NC State and lost by 1 to a ranked East Carolina. Not sure who is throwing for Mizzou in this one.

Very true. I'm definitely not trying to sound over-optimistic here. In fact, I would be very surprised if we finish in the top half of the SEC this season regardless of our hot start.

With that said, I think based on his track record, Bieser could put out some very nice results once he establishes himself in the next few seasons.

I said it right after Jamieson was let go that Bieser would be a great hire. All the guy has done is won. Granted this year in SEC could be a little rough, but just look at the hitting stats. Bond(while he wont hit close to .500 this year) has gone from low .200's to high .400's.

Bieser took a stagnant SEMO team and in 4 years won 3 OVC titles. Now in just 12 games he has Mizzou baseball back on the local radar and even some nationally.

Bieser's teams have a pretty good history of hitting the ball, and that's exactly what we are doing so far.

It was time to make a change in the baseball program, and they made the right choice.

I agree with others; the competition will be brutal as we get into conference play. Neverless, Bieser is off to a very solid start.

I have no problem getting ahead of myself. This team is drastically better than it was last year.

I'm tellin ya...I don't expect this pace to continue all season (obviously), and we may even finish near the bottom of the SEC, but Steve Bieser is legit.

May end up being the 1 good thing that Mack Rhoades did at Mizzou.

The big man finally gave up a couple of earned runs in a start. 4 innings. 2 ER. 4 K's 1 BB

Bond is a completely different player at the plate this year.

Got pretty lucky tonight tbh. Lots of sinkers and balls finding the right spot, but you don't win 20 a row in baseball without that.

De Oca coming on is a very good development. As with most college teams, the middle relief needs to get better.
