The State of Mississippi has always had enough talent to supply one competitive SEC program

Yep, and those players will now mostly go to Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, etc. Alabama lost out on 5-6 elite Mississippi kids the last few years to Ole Miss.

State might sign a couple more players, but it isn't like all kids that would have gone to Ole Miss are now going to go to State.

Exactly this^

We'll average around one more win for the next decade or so. It's not that we will be getting that much better, but we'll get yearly W over a shell of an Ole Miss team along with everyone else in the SEC west.

Agree, but a lot will. Mississippi recruits are surprisingly fairly loyal to their state if they feel they can win at a home state school. Alabama will of course poach a few away but a lot will go to MSU.

A couple more players can end up being the difference for a couple of wins
