Curious what the attendance numbers will be with nothing to play for ...
Will people drive in from Houston and Atlanta and Nashville all these weekends and blow through thousands of dollars ?

As long as they win people will still come to games. It wasn't til the end of the Coach O and Nutt era that fans finally stopped coming.

only reason fans stop coming at the end both er they wanted the Coach out asap

I reckon I'll still buy my season tickets and come to the games. My heart isn't in it though.

I find it hard to wrap my mind around this "nothing to play for" mentality shared by some. Outside of a national championship there's basically as much to play for as ever. How about the possibility of 12 regular season wins? That would be 3 more regular season wins than we've ever had. For me, that's plenty to play for. Plenty. The idea that we are only playing for a national championship and not a host of other factors the players really play for every single week is bogus.

Agree bowl games outside of playoffs mean nothing. Yes they are good fun but they are there to make money.

Might be the time to upgrade your seats. Ole Miss might turn this around quicker than

The NCAA is Goodell and we're New England. This is going to be fun.

Still going to the games regardless. If we lose fan support, our program will be gone for a long time.

quote:Same here and exactly. If we are to believe there's a renewed commitment and a chip on their shoulders among the players like was posted on Twitter and Facebook today, then I'm already way more excited about next season than I ever thought i would be. Just imagine the melt if our sanction, penalty ridden bunch were to beat (I'll let y'all fill in the blanks).

You just stated two reasons that bowls are good for.
The other reason is you get an extra month of official team practices.
You can say that bowls have NEVER meant anything unless you're in the BCS champ game or the major game before that era began.
Bowls mean as much as they have ever meant. There to reward the team/fans. Make the conference money and get some extra practice.

Except we're going to suck, and we definitely cheated.

I'll give you the first one, but I doubt bowls were ever created to reward fans. And they definitely weren't created to give conferences money and teams extra practices.
