The mid-late 90's Alabama teams were elite. The early 2000s Alabama teams were generally Top 25 teams. The end of Wells and Gaspard were bubble teams. And now we are the worst team in the history of the SEC.

And with a coach who's doing everything wrong at the moment. He's pissing off fans and alumni alike and running off recruits. This is not a good way to start off. Maybe he does get another year. Personally, I've seen enough to call it a bad hire. If I were Byrne, I'd be making some calls behind the scenes to gauge interest. Like I said in an earlier post, I don't think anyone in baseball circles would hold the quick hook against us given the circumstances. It is what it is, and I don't make the decisions. I have nothing personal against Goff, I hope he does turn it around, but a coach has to earn a certain level of respect, it's not given when you walk in the door. And right now, I'd say Goff thought it was included in the contract. If he stays, I'd say he burned every bit of goodwill he was granted on his hiring and will be on a very short leash going forward.
