Archie married Olivia on January 21, 1971, a few weeks after the Gator Bowl which was when he was a senior. Big wedding in Philadelphia (MS) which was her hometown. Fellow Rebel Billy Van Devender was the best man.
He met Olivia his junior year, just after his dad died (summer 1969) but they didn't marry until he finished his football career.

He almost didn't go back to Ole Miss following his dad's death feeling the need to stay home to care for his mom and sister. Mom insisted that he go back and Olivia was instrumental in getting to go back as well. They did grow much closer their Junior year as she helped him through his grief. He had an incredible Junior year.
