re: How many National Titles has Bama really won?

I've decided to only count national titles since I've been alive (1974...I'm going to go ahead and count the Notre Dame loss in the Dec 31, 1973 Sugar Bowl which was nearly a year before I was born). Alabama is 7-2 in #1 vs #2 "national title" games in that time (losses to Notre Dame and Clemson).

Alabama - 7
Florida - 3
LSU - 2
Tennessee - 1
Auburn - 1
Georgia - 1

Looks like Alabama and Florida have carried/dominated the league in my lifetime
