I didn't realize basketball players could get partial scholarships based on academic merit like baseball players, and there generally aren't many "hidden gems" in basketball like you can find in baseball. It certainly helps when you can take a project from Lake Charles and have him on a 75% academic scholarship. Now if Houston wants him they have to allocate 75% of one of their allotted 11.7 scholarships (I think that's the number) while LSU doesn't have to burn that baseball scholly and can offer to a higher rated kid out of state. Does basketball work the same way?

There is an average of 16 players on the basketball team so one could imagine using TOPS for 3 good players.
