Vols zeroing in on final 2018 OL?
Tennessee has been trying to secure a commitment from one more offensive lineman in the Class of 2018, and Cordova, Tenn., native Jerome Carvin seems to be the top target.
And now, Carvin has given SEC Country an update on his recruitment.
“My recruitment is going really well,” Carvin said. “Teams standing out to me right now are Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State and Arkansas. Arkansas has been coming real hard. Michigan, Auburn and Ole Miss are coming hard, too.”
But when it came to a leader, Carvin wouldn’t name any schools.
“I wouldn’t say a leader right now,” Carvin said. “All those teams are in a battle right now. They all are recruiting hard.”
He will take official visits to Tennessee, Mississippi State, Alabama and Arkansas, though. These, to me, are the clear leaders in his recruitment.
I think the Razorbacks are in the back of the clubhouse at the moment and short of them knocking the visit out of the park, they don’t have much of a shot.
Alabama plainly doesn’t have the room for him at the moment. Of course, that could change with de-commitments. The way the Crimson Tide’s class stands now, however, Carvin likely won’t end up in Tuscaloosa next fall.
Carvin attended the Mississippi State game against LSU last Saturday, and his posts on social media seemed to indicate he enjoyed his time. The Bulldogs also thrashed LSU in front of a near-sellout crowd at Davis Wade Stadium, which couldn’t have hurt his opinion of the school.
Mississippi State has come on strong over the past month and probably pose the biggest threat for snagging Carvin.
