What to make of Alabama’s latest Class of 2018 offer

I didn’t touch on this in my notebook on Monday, but Alabama offered Miami tight end commitment Brevin Jordan on Sunday night.

Jordan, the nation’s No. 3 tight end from Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas), has been committed to the Hurricanes since April and has shown zero signs of wavering on his commitment.

So, why the offer? Well, Jordan has started off his senior season on a high note. In four games so far, Jordan has 22 receptions, 349 yards and 3 touchdowns. The offer was extended by outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi.

Jordan told Adam Gorney of Rivals.com that he’s locked in with Miami.

“It’s Tight End U., it’s in paradise and the GOAT coach in [Mark] Richt,” Jordan said. “Simple as that.”

I have never heard anyone say Richt is the greatest coach ever. That’s a new one. Maybe the greatest coach in failing to meet expectations, but that’s about it.

Alabama fans shouldn’t expect a flip from Jordan, even with Miami having two of the nation’s top tight ends committed there in Jordan and 4-star prospect Will Mallory, who the Tide staff is high on, too.

For now, Crimson Tide fans should keep an eye on 4-star prospect Luke Ford, who has Alabama as his leader. The coaching staff is also still recruiting Texas tight end commitment Dominick Wood-Anderson, along with 3-star prospects Michael Parker and Glenn Beal.

Official visit set

Five-star defensive end K.J. Henry (Clemmons, N.C.) will take an official visit to Georgia this weekend. Earlier this month, he was in Clemson unofficially for the Auburn game.

Alabama, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are also in the mix for him.
