I never said they were useless. I said once you get outside of the top 15 or so classes they aren't very reliable.
Yes, the elit NC contenders are filled with top 10 classes but the elite prospects are pretty easy to identify and recruiting sites follow offers with their rankings many times.
Once you get past that though there is no evidence that say the 20th ranked class is going to outperform the 35th ranked class on a year to year basis. The ready made guys stand out. Trying to project guys is simply a crapshoot and there is only a certain number of obvious prospects each year.

If you're comparing 15 to 17 I'd agree. If you're comparing 16 to 57 I disagree.
