Muschamp is not McElwain.

Kirby is like Muschamp.

kirby lost to a 6 win vandy team in his first year as a head coach. Muschamp lost to a 1AA school in his 3rd year as a head coach.

Never run a program, can recruit really well, but doesn't seem to be put together when coaching.

Richt was a career coordinator and had never run a program either but he did just fine early on. Muschamp did mediocre his first year. So did richt. So did kirby. There's no way to say kirby is like muschamp with only 1 year of data to go on.

As far as recruiting, that's the big difference. UGA has never recruited this well in our history. In all his years at UF, mushcamp never put together a class as good as kirby just did in his first full year.

Georgia recruits amazingly no matter who is the head coach

I'm not sure why people continue to keep their head in the sand and keep regurgitating this inaccuracy. UGA always recruits "well". Under Richt we would typically bring in a top 10 class. Problem is that it'd typically be good for 4th or 5th in our own conference, and usually 2nd in our own division. We have NEVER put a class together like the one we just did. So no, this is not the same as we've always recruited.

Georgia didn't need another guy to maintain the 9 win season, they needed someone to push it over, and there's way too much talent on that team to get absolutely glazed by Florida who doesn't even have an offense.

It's year 1 FFS. Richt lost to SC and Boston college his first year then went 13-1 the next. Meyer was decent his first year then won a title the next. Saban lost 7 games first year at bama then started the next year 12-0. Year 1 at a school is entirely irrelevant when it comes to a coach's future. The fact we lost to UF last year has more to do with how bad we were, not how awesome UF was. The issue for UF fans should be that yall seemingly aren't getting much better (if at all), while we are absolutely stocking up.

quote:

If McElwain gets an offense, we can be confident he will outcoach Kirby,

First of all, he hasn't had an offense since he's been in gainesville so that's a pretty big qualifier. AU has been talking about how great they'll be "if only they had a QB" for years now. And again, you absolutely cannot say after 1 year of data what kind of coach kirby is going to be.

Here is what I do know. McElwain is 2-0 against UGA and those games haven't even been close.

And that was with the worst offense in the conference, ravaged by the poor recruiting of the past regime.

I like it though, everyone pick Georgia. UF will be lying in the weeds again, playing the uno respect card, and winning the east again.
