I lived in Capstone my freshman year, as the first few floors were Honors College overflow housing. It is a haul to get from that part of campus to the Swearingen Engineering Building.

The new Honors College dorms are right up Main Street from Swearingen. Besides that, Bates and the Quads are on that side of campus. I don't know if USC is still using McBryde but it was a dump when I was there.

If your son is interested in pledging a fraternity, the Greek Village is very close to Swearingen as well. He could most likely live there beginning sophomore year. I was a Kappa Sigma and one of my pledge brothers who was an Honors College engineering major was always able to walk to class. If not the Greek village, Granby and Olympia Mills are just down Whaley Street. I lived at Granby Mill my senior year and it was the first year it opened.

His decision from UF comes today at 6 PM. We will have a much better idea of where he is going once we know.

I'm a nervous father today.

I hope he doesn't join a fraternity no matter where he goes. I seriously doubt he would, given his personality. He's very anti establishment.
