the implication made by the "but" is that you are comparing two situations. one is good BUT you want to challenge yourself and have a great life as well. implication being the other of the two options is the place to challenge ones self and have a great life. GT has grads who do well, and grads who don't. This is the same at Bama. Life is what you make of it, not where you spent 4 years in your late teens/early 20's. If this kid wants a great life, then he will need to make one for himself. I would contend that the connections he makes at a place like Bama would benefit him quite considerably long term, especially if he is able to produce on the football field and further his personal brand in front of a large audience.
