Not reading the link but with a "blueshirt" do you pay your own way the first year then you are on scholarship?

They are on scholly and can practice but they can't play. So it's similar to a redshirt but they don't count until next year number wise

ETA: they can play but they won't be on scholly.

According to ESPN, a blueshirt is like a preferred walk on. They can enroll in the fall and participate that year, and then are guaranteed a scholly the next year.

I would guess they would pay they own way the 1st year.
