You don't need the tailback to block on every pass play. You need a QB that you can trust who can read the defense, feel the soft spot, and get the ball out on time.

Aaron Murray and Hutson Mason were great at 3 step drops. They were redshirt upper class men in the same system for 4+ years. It is a lot to ask from a freshman who is trying to protect the ball and figure out what the heck he is looking at. Hopefully, we will be able to utilize the backs better (Sony's draft stock would be through the roof if he catches 35+ passes)

You need a back to block on every pass play when your line is as terrible as ours was this past season. Also, three step drop doesn't work when your receivers can't create separation.
