Nailed it, I'm actually an automotive tech so kinda knew the answer before I asked.. Was just wondering how informed ppl are about their cars.. And to answer dudes question bout how it is harmful, gas is a solvent.. When your engine is cold the computer compensates by running a rich mix which, in fact, is harmful to your bores and rings

While this may be correct, for the most common consumer, this is a non-issue, with a modern engine. They simply dont keep the car long enough. However, one thing "warming up" a car can do to aid in useful life of the vehicle, is warming up the auto trans fluid. Trans is more likely to go out before the engine and it is better to get the fluid warmed before engaging in gear
