Wild stat from the NCG on Monday night

The game was tied for 5 minutes and 37 seconds.
Bama led for 51 minutes and 45 seconds.
Clemson led for 2 minutes and 38 seconds, but they were the right 2 minutes and 38 seconds.
It was a great game with a lot of late game drama/back and forth. Wish it had worked out the other way and Bama had won, obviously, but the beat goes on.

Reminded me so much of the 2013 NC. We dominated fsu for most of the game. But who is ahead at the end is all that matters.

You can be so sad sometimes, old timer. So how many hours and counting has Bama led AU, and , more importantly, how does it feel to HAVE to live your fanhood vicariously through a team/school other than your own?

18,563 hours, give or take an hour or two since Auburn's one game streak ended against Bama in 2014.

Let's check out some more stats:

Total yards.........511.............376
Bama had, just off the top of my head, drives that started at their own 43, the Clemson 16, and the Clemson 35. By contrast I can think of 5 Clemson drives that started inside their own 20, including one that started at the 1 and another that started at the 9.
Field position led to a lot of the yardage disparity, but certainly not all of it.

Turnovers............2................ 0
Bama got a total of 3 points off those 2 turnovers. That was a really story of, and key to, the game, in my opinion. The Clemson D played very well in those situations.

TOP..................34:44..........25:16
This was a result of a lot of factors: 1) Clemson D playing well, 2) Bama only running it 22% of the time from mid 3rd qtr on after Bo's injury (while up 10, which made no sense to me, but whatever), 3) Bama being in 3rd and long constantly (back to play calling), and 4) Penalties. Both turnovers Bama created were immediately met with false starts from Cam Robinson. Going from gaining a turnover to being 1st and 15 was less than ideal, obviously.

Not sure what you watched. I was there and while I'll readily admit that Clemson played the better game and deserved to win, they certainly did not "dominate" that game. You don't "dominate" a game and only win by 4 and only lead for less than 3 minutes total.

Bama had plenty of opportunities to extend drives and gain more yards (15 to be exact). They were only able to do so twice. 2-15 on third down has much more to do with the yardage disparity than the short field position does.

So, Clemson outplayed Bama here, right?

I watched a defense get absolutely worn down and an offense that couldn't keep their defense off the field in the second half. The stats show that the game wasn't as close as the final score. That Bama d was GASSED. There was no way Clemson wasn't scoring on the final possession,

Are the difference, obviously there are tons of ways to win/lose a game that close, but those two are the story IMO.

I'm sure this is a fun narrative for some, but you don't win by 4 and only lead for less than 3 minutes total in a game you "dominate".
Bama averaged 6.5 yards per carry to Clemson's 2.2 yards per carry.
People try to overthink these things. Bama abandoned run when Bo went out (why, I'll never know) and, thus, abandoned their ability to control the clock. The D got extremely tired and gave up 21 points in the 4th after only giving up 14 in the previous 3 qtrs.
Clemson dominated the 4th, unfortunately (sucks to admit it), but they did not "dominate" the game.
