Honestly Lyle doesn't deserve any sympathy but it is ridiculous to expect him to be able to manage the football program and its departures without a boss helping him out.

Dooley didn't have one for the summer going into his second year, and he was making less than 2mil a year. Going into his 5th season, and making 4mil-ish a year Butch should be fine. I'm sure he'll ride the excuse to get him another "sympathy" year though.

Yeah personally I'm left wondering if this new Chancellor has any AD type of experience in her past. Cincinnati isn't really at UTs level, so hope she understands that messing this up will not be good for her. Would be smart to let others make the call to make sure her hands are clean if it goes bad. Just hope time doesn't get wasted to be PC by interviewing a female, and adding some color to the mix. Nothing wrong with it if there isn't clear options, but wasting time and money with great options to be PC just chaps my hide.

I'm on the boat that UT will fumble this as the usual.

Dooley was an AD for 3 years before he coached here, he was definitely better equipped to handle that situation. What are you basing "he should be fine" on? How has he or the UTAD proven any amount of competence to you in regards to hirings/firings/running things lately?

We need an AD. Now
