Arkansas outdoor life isn't authentic. It's envious. It's self-conscious.

This is one of the weirdest things I've seen posted.

Arkansas outdoor life has variety. Delta and timberlands it's mostly hunting and fishing. NW and Ozarks it's that, but also a lot of hiking, caving, kayaking and mountain biking. West central is a combo of those.

In NWA, every last person I know hikes the Goat Trail on the Buffalo, Yellow Rock trail at Devil's Den, and kayaks and canoes. Most of those people also cycle to some degree because it's so damned easy to do around here. Others get into mountain biking, again, because you can mountain bike 10 minutes from your house. We have enough mountain bike amenities that we hosted the IMBA World Summit last year.

Kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing are all things you can do within the city of Fayetteville or within 25 minutes. And everybody does the Buffalo at least once or twice a year.

I know fewer people in NWA who actually hunt or fish than do those other types of outdoor activities. It's a lot easier to get into those other activities around here anyway. To hunt, you need to know somebody with some land.

Here's a good video demonstrating our "Colorado envy" and "inauthentic" mountain biking community:
