There is authenticity to Colorado's thing. It's distinctively theirs.
The Fayettechill broseph thing is Patagonia wannabee. It's inauthentic. It's one brand, but its symbolic of more than that.
Arkansas outdoor life isn't authentic. It's envious. It's self-conscious.
It hasn't embraced and grown out from what was there. It tries to be Colorado instead of being itself.

Hmmm. I own exactly one Fayettechill item but I'll bite.
How has Fayettechill co-opted Colorado? Every Fayettechill thing I've ever seen featured kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking and fly fishing. People were doing those things in the Ozarks a helluva long time before Fayettechill ever existed.
Gaston's Resort, built almost entirely around trout fishing, has existed since the 1950s. Folks have been snagging trout with flys around here for a century at least.
The Buffalo National River has been protected, canoed and loved by hippies since the 1960s, and officially by Fedgov since '72.
All of that stuff actually IS authentic Ozark culture, even if it doesn't fit whatever you perceive it "should be".
