Did you know that using only barley, hops, water, and yeast, you can make everything from chocolate porters and coffee stouts to fruity ales and skunky IPA's?
Just because something has a fancy name and unique flavors doesn't mean there's extra weird shite put into it.

Example:
Saaz hops are a traditional hop used in Bavarian and Czech pilsners. If you use them after the boil, post fermentation, they create a rosey cinnamon aroma on the beer. A person like you would say "Who sprayed Chanel No. 5 in this budweiser, goddammit!" And then a person like me would say "You dumb frick, that's the hops from the vines that have been growing up the side of that mountain for 300 years".

So you think all IPA's taste the same? I'm pretty sure you know nothing about craft beer either.

You know its crazy but people have different tastes lolololol!!!!11!!!!11
For the record, I've never had an IPA that tastes like Pine Sol and I would have poured it out on the bartenders head if I were served one that did.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The whole "the more hops the better" trend sucks. I'm more of a English Brown ale or stout drinker myself.

It's all about the malt.

You know I talked about different styles of craft I'd tried and talked about liking Stouts and Hefeweizens but why waste the time when I can just sum up my feelings to that guy's comment with a picture so hence the sweet edit.....

I personally do not care for IPA's and agree that most taste like pine sol.
So you have never had an IPA I guess.

West Coast IPA's have started moving away from pininess and the new hip thing is to make them smell and taste like weed.
If Jefferson Dawg were to take a sip, he'd melt like that guy from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

That was never my premise to begin with...if it has a fancy or cute name odds are pretty good it is not fit to drink. A brewer who spends an inordinate amount of time coming up with names and artwork for bottles is like a restaurant owner who devotes more time to ambiance than to food. It is entirely possible to do both BUT the beer must be the selling point and in my experience the cuter or cathcier or fancier the name the lower the quality.
And by the way none of the brews you mention are beers....Porters, Stouts and Ales...no a beer in the group....

Before googling and doing some closer reading I had no idea what this thread was about. Just looking at the thread title I thought some dude with "bud" in his name was starting a thread about whether anyone had tried marijuana on some kind of device.

That's a damn lie.
There's nothign wrong with phish, craft beer, or weed. I just get annoyed when people try to define themselves by music, liquids, or plants.
