I happened to go in The Cellar, over at home wood hills today on my way home from work. They had both Smoke on the Porter and Koki Buni stocked.

These people are called alcoholics and they'd drink Budweiser, Smoke on the Water Porter, or another drink called 'Listerine" if they had to.

Many of them probably are alcoholics but other than young kids among them I never met one who would drink the Budweiser you are talking about (in fact that one is not even a beer....beer can't be made from rice there....the Budweiser you are talking about is rice beer...) but they will drink the actual beer that is known as Budweiser and I promise you that that beer would match up well against anything brewed in any brewery anywhere on the planet no matter how cute a name the end result is given....

They are everywhere...it is a fricking epidemic....look at some of the shite they brew...Oatmeal? Strawberries? What the frick? BEER is only made with malted barley, hops, yeast and water. If it has any other ingredients it simply isn't really a beer to begin with....it is something else entirely, often times something more akin to a wine cooler than a beer.

Rheinsgebot or whatever the old german law that defines beer as only barley, hops, water, was put in place during a food shortage and they needed the wheat for bread.

Traditionally beer has been made from all kinds of things, as long as barley is the main ingredient and hops, and is carbonated then it is beer.

call me a loser but whether I'm at home, a restaurant, tailgating, event, or pretty much anywhere else just give me a cold miller lite and I'm set.

Actually found it at the Atlanta Hwy 5 Points Bottle Shop last night. Must have just gotten some in. Haven't tried it yet, tho.

In any case, I appreciate you posting that!

I know if it has to have a witty name it is lacking in flavor...just like wine with a pretty picture on the bottle....if it is fit to drink the beer speaks for itself...it doesn't need a cute name.

Beer has not been made with anything but the ingredients I listed in the country where the people I was talking about live....at least not for about 400 years...they make ale and other things but it ain't beer....

15 years ago these guys would have been devoted Blue Fish drinkers....more than a majority of craft beers being brewed today aren't fit to drink but no one will say so because they are afraid of someone accusing them of knowing nothing about beer. Talk to brewers and they will tell you it is like golf....even when you have a great round you know there are things you can do to get better....but slap a cute name on it and hike the price up and make it difficult to buy and folks will swear it is the nectar of the gods. I can remember when you couldn't get Coors east of the Mississippi....we thought that shite was better than average marital sex...when you could get it everyday I don't know anyone who drinks it regularly....

Ask the brewer at your tap house if he or she has ever made a perfect or even a great beer...most will say they have made some good ones but the great one eludes them....that is the beauty of art....if they say they have they are merely Anheuser Busch on a smaller scale...

So you base beer on its name... Like I said, you know nothing about craft beer.

So you think all IPA's taste the same? I'm pretty sure you know nothing about craft beer either.

I personally do not care for IPA's and agree that most taste like pine sol. One of the best American wheat beers I have ever tried is one that my local tap house does that is almost a blend between a very hoppy IPA and a true Bavarian Hefeweizen...astonishingly good. Not Surpsingly it is called WHEAT BEER....because it doesn't need a name to sale it....so you walk in the place and ask if they have any Wheat Beer...as in "give me a wheat beer". They also occasionally have other breweries offerings and they all have cute names and everyone of the other wheats I ever tried was as bad as a Leininkuegel Summer Shandy or a Blue Moon.

I drink a lot of beer and spend more time in tap houses than I should...it is my go to move anytime I am out of town now if there ain't any fishing to be had or there ain't enough time for fishing....and in my experience the more names a beer has and the cuter the name the less likely it is to be very good. Most beer drinkers around the world simply order how much beer they want...as in a pint or a grosse bier bitte....only in the US do our beers have to have cute names and pretty pictures like wine bottles for us to consider it....

Yes, that is because the location where this beer is sold can sale anything and call it beer...while the location where the experts I was writing about in a previous post does not allow this.
