I have been a fairly avid follower of CFB since I was old enough to understand what football and college teams were, and I have never heard of them as a "hallmark" of anything. When I think "Stanford", I think if you gave me 100 guesses I still wouldn't have identified them with "man that band sure is rowdy and a bunch of hellraisers!"
