If they can play Samford, Jax St., Alabama A&M etc. then why not Troy? I have always wondered why they won't play. Anyone know or have an idea?

Nothing to win and everything to lose.

No point...

I suppose it has something to do with neither school wanting to play the third best football school in Alabama. There is no benefit to doing so.

However, I wish that both teams played Troy every year mainly because it would be a fun arse tailgate, as I have many friends that went to Troy.

Well, Auburn does. Alabama doesn't.

Saban is still too traumatized by his loss to UAB while at LSU.

Just like LSU won't play Tulane.

Not that they couldn't beat Tulane, we just don't schedule them.

Why piss off the hybrid LSU/Tulane fan?

I'd rather we not play any non-P5 teams. But if Saban insists on doing it then I don't see why it couldn't be Troy.

The SEC is already criticized for playing too many "cupcakes" even if the team is a solid contender.

If fear is involved,"which it's not" it's due to SOS and other factors. Can't play every in state school that would love nothing better than to use an entire season to prepare for their game of the century.

Last time Bama did it, they went on to lose to Duke in the Sugar Bowl. Then, they went undefeated the with a Rose Bowl win the next year and didn't win a National Title.

So, it's obviously bad luck.

Besides, not playing them and saying f' the other in-state schools is a tradition...where are we without our traditions?
