Saban took over a Michigan State team that went 0-11 in 1994.
1995 - 6-5-1
1996 - 6-6
1997 - 7-5
1998 - 6-6
1999 - 10-2
So, even the greatest coach in college football history is human. Obviously, he has honed his craft since his days at Michigan State. Nobody will compete with Saban regularly, unless they adopt and take to heart his dedication, focus, and tunnel vision toward his goals.
