How is it that Michigan did not fall a spot after losing to Iowa? Should Louisville have gotten into the top 4?

I think Michigan should have AT LEAST dropped to 4 or 5 after losing to an unranked Iowa team. Most teams drop at least a few spots for losing to a ranked team, I just do not see how this makes sense.

Thoughts?

There's still 3 more weeks left. It doesn't matter.

If that was the only game last weekend, then yes they would have dropped.

This poll does not matter and the committee is well aware of that.

Quit looking at how they are compared to last week and start looking at how their resume looks compared to others.

You shouldn't get punished for losing late. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard

idk.. I was always against the notion that every time a team loses they drop in the rankings. I am pretty sure when LSU lost to Bama a couple of weeks ago, they dropped ~5 spots, but should that really be the case when #15 loses to the consensus #1?

in the LSU scenario it's moot, but in general, I like how the committee seems to put more thought into it.

Yes. They continuously change the rules used week to week. There is no form of logic that would help you to understand their line of reasoning. Hopefully this mess is replaced sooner rather than later.

How the3 F are they going to deal with the likely scenario of OSU winning out, and Wisconsin beating Penn St for the conference championship. Two teams from one conference in the final 4, neither of which were even in their conference championship. Going to be a clusterfrick.

The commitee ranks the teams based on their resumes. Looks like they've got them ranked right, imo. Teams' resumes will change each week and the committee will rerank them all based on their resumes at that point. It's the right way to do it. The four teams with the best resumes will be in. It'll all work itself out.

This is how they like it. It will help hype the Ohio St v. Michigan game even more.

It's pretty much set up as the winner of the SEC, winner of the big 10, and winner of the ACC. With that final spot going to Washington/Oklahoma/runner-up from those first three.

That is, of course, assuming that someone random team doesn't sneak away with the ACC/SEC/Big10 title

Louisville best wins:

FSU (currently #17 in CFP rankings)

That's it, no more wins over ranked teams

Michigan's best wins:

Wisconsin (#7)
Penn State (#8)
Colorado (#10)

Michigan has much better wins. Louisville has the better loss.

The issue for most people, which is somewhat valid, is you see no change in the polls after a loss. However, teams 7-14 or whatever last week all had 2 losses, teams 5 and 6 last week had 1 and teams 1-4 had 0. When 2,3,4 lose they still only had one loss, which means they are at most dropping to 6. Michigan has the best resume of the teams that lost last weekend so they didn't drop. If they lose to OSU, they will drop 4 spots or so would be my guess

I want to see how the committee will explain having Ohio State in the playoffs, but the Big 10 champion (either Wisconsin or Penn State) not in the playoffs.

If the above occurs, does a deliver the message that conferences are no longer needed and CFP should be from a group of about 40-45 teams?

They are just trying to create drama for the OSU game. Then they will create drama for the conference championship game.

It's all about ratings and dollars... ratings and dollars

Agree 100%. If there's no penalty for losing then what's the point of all this?
