The guy is amazing as a true freshman, so my guess is yes. But he obviously has tons of room to improve on his deep ball, timing, and reads.

He threw a lot of good passes in stride yesterday. It's like the game slowed down immediately after playing a defense as good as LSU's. But I'm only cautiously optimistic at this point. He's got at least four more games this season to show it wasn't a fluke. But I don't realistically expect to see improvement until after the off-season.

Hope so. We can and likely will win a championship without the deep ball. Bama is already near invincible as it is. If we had a deep passing game too it just wouldn't be fair...

If you'd asked this a week ago it would have been more of a valid question. He showed more improvement yesterday than he has all season.

Short answer is yes.

His one INT was just miscommunication between he and Stewart. He's had some good throws downfield this year. So yes, it'll improve.

Can it get better? OMG, yes.

Will it? Probably with time and coaching. He's still learning the offense and split reps through first few games of the year. A lot of the timing will improve with reps.

Is it good enough this year? Almost certainly

I'm just glad he immediately shakes off freshmen moments. He just goes back out there like nothing happened, and often leads a scoring drive to make up for it.

Over what timeframe? I don't think he's hit his ceiling by any stretch. I imagine coaches will be doing a lot of work on his reads and deep ball over the offseason.

I expect to see a lot of improvement between the IB and the SECCG (like McElroy in '09) and then the POs.

his deep ball isn't horrible, overall ... it's just that his misses are very, very bad ... the int yesterday was a bad pass irrespective of where the wr thought it might be thrown ... horribly underthrown for a DI qb ... but he hits some deep passes here and there ...

Yes. He's a True Freshman who passes like a True Freshman. He should improve over time.

He'll , what he is right now is good enough to be un defeated in the best conference in college football , so any improvement will be icing .

I told a buddy the exact same thing last night. When he makes a bad pass, it is BAD. I thought the one yesterday was a missed read or miscommunication. Hopefully.

He also needs to work on ball protection when he's scrambling & in the pocket.

Some of them are bad, yes. Saban said in the post game press conf though, that it was the receiver taking the wrong route and responsible for that interception more than Hurts. He was supposed to have been going underneath that particular play.

Having said that.. he's had growing pains as a true freshman, but to be where they're at right now.. I wouldn't have thought it. Very pleased with this team.

With this defense, sure. Like Jay Barker in '92.

Im not down on the kid, he's a TD. I expect him to get much better. I remember AJ when he first started and how much he improved. He should be ok.

i think that he has a lot more than the deep ball to work on. he's garbage on intermediate stuff and rarely throws to the middle of the field.

but yes he'll improve and i would expect him to win a heisman before he leaves bama
