how is this any different than Sumlin when he coached there or Malzahn at Arkansas State, Meyer at Utah, etc? Why would players quit on him when they were, a few weeks ago, in line for a playoff birth? I don't really buy that argument. Maybe they mailed it in against SMU after losing all playoff hopes with a loss to Navy, but I don't think that has to do with Herman being the hot name out there for a P5 job
not sure what your question is. sumlin's last houston team got blown out by an inferior southern miss team in the CCG, while him leaving to A&M was the worst kept secret in CFB. You're not really understanding the relationship that players have with their coaches, especially at schools that would otherwise be seen as unattractive.

I would love Hermann, but not getting him isn't the end of the world. As for his Houston offense, I don't get too wrapped up in that. He altered his system to fit Greg Ward Jr and what he has available to him there. Go back and look at his system at Ohio State. He got great QB play out of 2 different backups and pounded the rock with impunity, even on Bama. Especially on Bama. I see no issues with that kind offense.
If he goes to Texas, well, good luck with that.

Irrelevant to LSU vs. Texas, but too good not to share:
-- Tom Herman, referring to SMU. OUCH!

And if you're satisfied with going 7-5 and going to the Poulan Weedeater Bowl, then great. Then you're in the wrong program and we'll find a place for you to go. I hear there's a private school up in Dallas that's really looking to try to get to seven wins. We can certainly find you a home.

quote:Ed is still auditioning.
Are you really going to hand the reigns over to Orgeron?
He has every opportunity to win the job - all he has to do is win out and he will have gotten that team to the CFP and no way they don't give him the keys.

exactly, and there'd be no reason not to in that situation. As I said earlier ITT, LSU is in a great situation with Orgeron getting to audition on the job. If he wins, great. If he doesn't, they can go out and throw some money at someone. However, it's in LSU's best interest, for program stability, to hope Orgeron gets the job done. If he's offered, chances are he retains most of the staff, they don't lose as many recruits, and they save themselves a lot of money in potential buyouts with Orgeron likely retaining most of the staff. I don't think anyone would have a problem with LSU hiring Orgeron if he were to win out or even finish the season with 1 loss on his watch. Of course people would troll LSU about it, but that is the nature of this board.

There is a board just for this type of thread. Think it is called, Coaching Changes.
How bout take this shite over there where it belongs where there is already more than one thread on the subject.

I've never liked him. He hasn't proven jack. I've been on the Jimbo Fisher Train day one of the firing.
With that said, O is winning me over a little bit every week.

I remember hearing Saban to Texas was a done deal to before they hired Charlie Strong.
I still like Tome Herman even though he has lost a couple this year. I would like to see him at LSU but if he does take the Texas job I'll be all aboard with Coach O staying on as HC.
