There used to be a game where college all-stars would play an NFL team. I remember that the all-stars beat the NFL team once. So there's that.

and that happened in 1963. It was also a preseason game for charity so I have to imagine people weren't going as balls to the wall as they would in an actual game.

The best college team in the country, let's use alabama this year, has let's be very generous and say half of their 100 players that will actually get to the NFL in some capacity. Of those 50, there are what, maybe 15 that will be bonafide contributors to a team. That leaves 35 that will be backups, busts, practice squads, training camp cuts, etc.

Compare that to the worst NFL team that has 53 players that made the NFL roster and has all 22 starters that are good enough to start for the highest level of football on the planet. I know bama is good, but can you imagine their 19 and 20 year old linemen squaring up against 30 year old seasoned NFL veterans? You know how most college players have a bit of an adjustment period in the pros due to the speed of the game? Every NFL player has already adjusted to it. Jalen Hurts is phenomenal but his weakness is passing...how do you think he could pass against an NFL secondary? We also don't have to guess how Saban would fare in teh NFL because he's already done it. He took a team of NFL players and NFL assistant coaches and played other NFL teams and was average at best. Yet somehow he can take his collection of 18-21 year old college players and win an NFL game?

I didn't say I thought it was possible today, just pointing out that it has happened in the only forum that I have known it to take place.
