Although I signed to have it included on the ballot I would have voted against it. It is just another in a series of amendments which would have created a casino monopoly while, ironically, the backers, as is the usual case, end up criticizing the other gambling monopolies for wanting to preserve their own monopolies. Pot meet kettle.

Maybe someday someone will actually have a proposal to set up a Commission like they have in NV or MS which have populations similar to ours where any person can go through the process to get a gaming license. Make it as much free market as you can and I think it would pass. People are always going to be skeptical of these line-your-own-pocket proposals. Of course the Lottery Amendment did pass but it was truly statewide and didn't seek to limit sales from particular places or stores.

The amendment concerning limitation of economic damages (Issue #4) was also kicked off the ballot; the medical marijuana amendment (Issue #6) was ruled that it would remain on the ballot for a vote.

Litigator is correct. Issue 5 was absolutely terrible. I'm pleased it was struck down.

I would vote for this.
