Texas A&M and Tennessee’s double overtime thriller was the best game of Saturday’s college football slate.
It also turns out it was the most watched.
Per the Twitter account, @SportsTVRatings, the Texas A&M win drew a 4.0 on CBS. That topped Miami’s 20-19 loss to Florida State, which came in second with a 3.2. Alabama/Arkansas was the second most watched SEC game. The Crimson Tide’s 49-30 win over Arkansas.

Well, you'd hope a 5 hour game had a few viewers at some point.

We'll be making Tennessee our darlings this weekend.

You guys are so nouveau riche. First being excited about Gameday and now this.
Alabama usually takes up half of the top 10 most-watched games every year.

It was kind of like watching Russian Roulette, but pointing the gun at their feet instead of their heads.

This 3rd Saturday will be the most watched after Saturday. Hell, nobody else could play Arkie and draw that.

Never really understood this. Even the reddest of reds do not put an R in Tennessee.

The rematch in ATL should blow these ratings out of the water

Does it mean as much if everyone only tuned in to witness the inevitable loss from UT? We were laughing at you, not with you dummy.

And it only took the cancellation of one of the few other decent SEC matchups to accomplish!
I'll admit I watched and was fascinated. I have never seen a team herp a derp it's way through a game like that and still make it to overtime (I was rooting for Tennessee, btw)

Actually these Tennessee games are relatively weak for TV ratings. Granted, often viewership increases as the season goes on, but 2016 has been very "meh" for SEC football in terms of television ratings.
The Tennessee vs. Texas A&M game last Saturday ranked just 8th in viewership of all college football games so far this season. It ranks just 21st in viewership of all SEC regular season games going back to 2013.
Most viewers for regular season SEC games since 2013:
13.530M- Auburn @ Alabama, 2014
11.063M- LSU @ Alabama, 2015
13.780M- Alabama @ Auburn, 2013
13.590M- Alabama @ Texas A&M, 2013
11.900M- LSU @ Alabama, 2013
10.270M- Mississippi St. @ Alabama, 2014
9.299M- Alabama @ Auburn, 2015
9.110M- Alabama @ LSU, 2014
8.169M- Alabama @ Ole Miss, 2016
7.950M- Florida @ Alabama, 2014
7.605M- Ole Miss @ Alabama, 2015
7.510M- Texas A&M @ LSU, 2013
7.390M- LSU @ Georgia, 2013
7.210M- Texas A&M @ Auburn, 2014
7.050M- South Carolina @ Georgia, 2013
7.045M- Alabama @ Georgia, 2015
Of the 16 regular season SEC games to garner 7 million + viewers since 2013, twelve involved Alabama including all of the Top 11 games.
Of these 16 highest rated SEC regular season games since 2013, here are how many times each SEC school was involved:
12- Alabama
5- LSU
4- Auburn
3- Georgia
3- Texas A&M
2- Ole Miss
1- South Carolina
1- Mississippi State
1- Florida
Somehow the SEC's "media darlings" have not been associated with any of these games.
Also, noticably absent from this list is the so called "Greatest Rivalry in the History of all Sports," the Third Saturday in October....
All three matchups since 2013 pitting Alabama and LSU make the list... coming in at #2, #5, and #8 most viewed SEC regular season games since 2013. Average viewership equals 10.691 million viewers each time.
The Iron Bowl scores even better, despite not having the prime time slot like Bama-LSU. All three Iron Bowls played since 2013 have garnered at least 7 million viewers, coming in as the #1, #3, and #7 most viewed SEC regular season games since 2013. Average viewership equals an astounding 12.203M viewers each time.
